John has been selected to be a part of the 15th Annual Long Beach Musuem of Art Auction being held May 19th. John donated a painting he did of a local Craftsman house and vintage truck from the Carroll Park neighborhood of Long Beach.
John was also juried into the the annual "Less Is More" show sponsored by the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association at the Randy Higbee Gallery in Costa Mesa through May 10.
March 2013
John is participating in the Crystal Cove Alliance's "Springtime Magic" show featuring the Alliance's 20 artists that showcase their work at the store in Crystal Cove. A private reception will be held Friday March 15 from 5-7:30 and the art show and sale will be open to the public Sat., March 16 and Sunday, March 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m at the Education Commons in Crystal Cove State Park.

John had his first home studio show which was a great success. Many paintings were sold and new friends made.
November 2012
John had his painting "Fishing Buddies" selected for display in the annual Wells Fargo "Banking on Art" show at the Wells Fargo Bank in Laguna Beach, CA at 260 Ocean Ave. The show will run from November 21 to January 15, 2013. An artist reception will be held on Sat. Dec 8 at the bank from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

John had two paintings juried into the California Art Club's exhibit, "California Heritage" which will be held at the Jose Vera Gallery in Pasadena, CA. The show will run from October 3-December 2.
July 2012
John is participating in the 7th Biennial SOCALPAPA "Paints the Back Bay"Art Show and Sale, Saturday and Sunday, July 21 & 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The show is held on the patio of the Muth Interpretive Center at 2301 University Drive, Newport Beach, CA. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Newport Bay Conservancy.

John had a busy June! He was juried into the Laguna Plein Air Painter's Assn. "Best of Plein Air" show which was held for 2 weeks in June at Seven in Laguna Beach, CA.
In addition, he participated in Los Gatos Plein Air in June and sold 2 of his 4 paintings he created in the 4 days there. A portion of the proceeds went to Los Gatos Rotary which in turn donated the sales to local art programs.
And lastly, he participated in the acclaimed Telluride Plein Air from June 29-July 5 in the beautiful town of Telluride, CO. Despite the difficult weather conditions John created 8 paintings in 4 days and sold 3. A portion of the proceeds benefitted the Sheridan Opera House in Telluride and it's continued programs and theater restoration.

John was juried into the 19th Annual Carmel Festival of the Arts. The festival is being held from May 17-21 in beautiful Carmel, CA.

John was selected to participate in the 30th Annual La Quinta Festival of the Arts" in La Quinta, CA, March 8-11, 2012.
John is selected as the "Artist of the Month" on the Laguna Plein Air Painter's Association website.
JANUARY 2012
John's painting, "Out of the Shadows" has been selected to be shown in an exhibit by the California Art Club in their show entitled, Iconic California. The painting is an ocean scene that was painted recently in Laguna Beach, CA. The exhibit will take place at Altadena Country Club from January 29 to May 15, 2012. There is an artist's reception on January 29 at the country club from 4-6 p.m. The club is located at 2290 Country Club Dr., Altadena, CA .

John was awarded Second Place in the annual "Small is Beautiful" SOCALPAPA painting show for his painting "A Spot of Color" of Crystal Cove in Laguna Beach, CA. A second piece,, "The Gardening Center" from Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA was juried into the show as well. Both pieces are for sale and on display in the SOCALPAPA Art Gallery located near the Balboa Fun Zone at 600 East Bay Ave., Newport Beach, CA 92661.

John has been juried into the annual La Jolla Art and Wine Festival being held the weekend of October 1-2, 2011 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. both days in La Jolla, CA. Come by and visit him in his booth to view some of his recent works from Northern CA, San Clemente and Italy.
This unique, two-day festival will be held in the Village of La Jolla on upper Girard Avenue. The LJAWF donates all its proceeds to La Jolla public elementary schools, which are part of the financially troubled San Diego Unified School District. Funds raised through your participation will go to commonly underfunded programs at La Jolla, Torrey Pines, and Bird Rock Elementary Schools, including art, music, science, physical education, technology, and on-site medical care by a school nurse.

John was awarded Best Coastal Scene with his painting "Morning Break" of the San Clemente pier in the City of San Clemente's City Plan contest. The image will be part of the city's literature and images on their website. His piece along with the other paintings that won in other categories will be for sale and on display at the San Clemente Art Gallery at 100 Calle Seville in San Clemente, CA until Oct. 27.

John has been juried into two California Art Club Exhibitions, Magnificent Miniatures and Golden State Treasures. There will be an artist's reception for both events on Saturday, December 5, 2010 from 5-9 p.m. at the Historic Blinn House in Pasadena. The Magnificent Miniatures show is a one night event but the Golden State Treasures show will be on exhibit until April 13, 2011. The pieces juried into Magnificent Miniatures were two 9" x 12" pieces, "June Gloom" painted in Crystal Cove and "Daddy Time" painted on Catalina Island and for the Golden State Treasures show the juried piece is "Jagged Rock" a
12" x 16" painting of the ocean off Carmel.

SOCALPAPA Aquatics Show
John is pleased to announce that two of his paintings have been juried into an exhibition called “Earth & Sea”. One of the pieces “Catalina Dive” Won FIRST PLACE.
The Southern California Plein Air Painters Association is hosting the exhibition and sale of the paintings at their art gallery on Balboa Island and a special opening reception took place November 6 from 5-7 pm. The show runs until December 31, 2010 and the Art Gallery SOCALPAPA is located at 600 East Bay Ave. Newport Beach, CA 92661.

“On the Mend” has been selected to be hung in a special exhibit entitled, “Artists Explore Long Beach” at the Long Beach Museum of Art from May 10-24. The museum is located at 2300 Ocean Blvd. Long Beach, CA. This work was one of 70 pieces in various mediums that were submitted to the California Art Club by member artists and only one of 20 that were chosen for exhibit at the museum.

Once a year, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts Association in Alabama, selects works from around the country to be sold at their annual Art Auction hosted by Christie’s Fine Art Auctioneers. One of John’s pieces displayed at Greenberg Fine Art Gallery in Santa Fe, NM was chosen for the event.
The piece that was selected and then sold at the silent auction was “Mailboxes, etc.", a oil painting of one of the “unique” properties in the small town of Madrid, NM where the movie “Wild Hogs” was filmed.

C.C. Gallagher’s is proud to present “Under the Sea”, an exhibition of works from the late award-winning artist Stanley Meltzoff’s collection. Stanley started painting fish underwater in 1960 for Sports Illustrated, National Geographic and Field & Stream.
As a compliment to “Under the Sea” C.C. Gallagher’s will feature new work by impressionist painter John White. The show will feature nineteen works of art from Malibu to Laguna and Avalon. The show will run through the summer months. C.C. Gallagher’s is located on Crescent Avenue in Avalon on Catalina Island.

John White is proud to announce winning FIRST PLACE in the plein air category with his “Family Reunion in Avalon” piece, a 9” x 12” original oil painting. The competition was part of the Catalina Island 50th Festival of the Arts, a traditional event held every September.
In addition to receiving a generous first place prize, the painting was sold at the event.
APRIL 2008
John White had his second exhibition of oil paintings, titled “CATALINA ISLAND” which was held at the Long Beach Yacht Club. Twenty-four paintings were exhibited depicting the charming island communities of Avalon and Two Harbors. Over seventy people attended the show where John sold sixteen of the twenty-four paintings.
John considered the show a tremendous success, which he believes was the major factor for his work then being featured at C.C. Gallagher’s, a gallery on Catalina Island,.

John White had his first art opening in Naples, CA at a private home. John had been painting for over six months to put together a collection of plein air paintings that he created based on various local Long Beach scenes as well as paintings from Ojai, CA, Taos, New Mexico and Sunset Beach, NC.
Over one hundred people attended the open house and John sold twelve of the sixteen paintings. One of the favorites was of the Naples fountain, a beautiful landmark in the charming neighborhood of Long Beach. He was commissioned to paint a second one after the first one sold before the show opened.
